"I've been with you such a long time..."

"...You're my sunshine and I want you to know. That my feelings are true, I really love you.
Oh you're my best friend!"

Trevor and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary a couple of weeks ago and decided to do something we have never done. We went away for the weekend - just us. Even before we had Bailey we had never gone anywhere just to hang out with each other. Not that we don’t like each other, but it always seemed kind of silly to us as we are with each other every day. With the help of my sister McKenna; we left Bailey in Logan to play with her cousins and play with her auntie and uncle while we went to Bear Lake. We stayed at this great little “boutique hotel” called the Inn at Snow Meadows and it was amazing. The owners and staff were beyond delightful and adorable and we definitely hope to go back.

We went horseback riding and to the beach; although the surprising snow and wind kept us from spending too much time at the beach or outdoors. We ate some delicious food and had a wonderful time being together. We had an unfortunate honeymoon which is really funny now, but at the time was pretty sad. Basically, I got really sick and we ended up coming back to Utah sooner than planned and then discovered that I had strep throat and a double ear infection. There is more to the honeymoon story that I am happy to share - just ask, but be prepared it involves vomit and more. Ha. So needless to say - we definitely needed and deserved a do-over. :)

First Face Painting - I think she liked it!

"I want to jump mommy!" (Now said all the time)

Unfortunately, the tradition of someone getting sick on a trip like this happened to Miss Bailey. She spiked a fever Saturday night and was not feeling her best come Sunday, so we headed back just a bit sooner to pick her up and head home. I then spent the next few days with a very cuddly and slightly feverish girl who then had several bumps show up. Come to find out that someone at her daycare kindly gave her impetigo - so now after a week of antibiotics and special ointment - she is now feeling and looking better. Just in time for the upcoming Granat Family Assembly next week.

It was also Father’s Day and we are so grateful for our own Father’s and Grandfather’s and other Fathers we are lucky to know. I am glad that Bailey has such a great dad in Trevor. He loves being a dad and is great with her. I love it when they play together. They just make each other laugh and have such fun together and it makes me really happy. Thanks Trevor for being such a good, fun and loving daddy.

Summer is definitely going to be hot and fun filled. Bailey is happy and is even more obsessed with the movie Frozen (Let it Go) and princesses lately. So bring on the girly fun. Stay tuned for the report on the Granat happenings. Stay hydrated and we will be in touch soon.

"The way that people respond to summer madness...Summertime"

It has been a busy and crazy month in Smithtown. The first fun started with a work trip where I attended an IT seminar in Montreal Canada and was gone for just under a week. Everyone survived; although I wasn't sure of my survival at one point. I did have a fun time with my friends/coworkers and learned quite a bit about international travel and our library systems. We did get a little lost on our first night in town - thanks to poor directions from our concierge, and we might have been caught in a pretty significant rain storm, but we survived. We are also pretty sure that the nice woman in yellow who helped us was a prostitute; so that was a great start to the trip. Ha! :) I also may have gone a little selfie crazy.

We managed to see quite a few things while we were there even though we were trapped in the hotel for the seminar most days. We loved touring the basilica of Notre Dame and exploring Old Town and the financial district as well as Chinatown. There is some amazing architecture. We walked a lot and became quite adept at the transit system, both buses and trains.

We had some delicious food. The pickles at a place called Schwartz's were amazing and the black cherry soda was by far and away the best black cherry soda I have ever had, We found a fantastic restaurant in Chinatown called "Oh Dumplings" which was Oh my delicious. We also found time to shop on St. Catherine (think 5th Ave) and kept going back to Jean Coutu Pharmacy for more chocolate to bring back for our households.

The whole underground mall was fascinating. I guess when its so cold for part of the year you must find ways to survive and therefore shop. Here are some photos of myself and my friends as proof of our fun and crazy days. I should mention that while we did have a great time that we did come across those not so friendly French Canadians that people occasionally talk about. Oddly enough - they were much nicer when they found out we were Americans and not from another province. Oh well, it made it more exciting I suppose. If anyone wants more details, let me know. I would be happy to share.

We were all pretty thrilled when we got home as were our respective households and not just because we came bearing gifts.

Chocolate and over the counter muscle relaxants - yes please!

After the trip it was back to life as usual. Work and of course fun.

Right After I Landed I ran to pick up the Bailey. We were both pretty excited! Reunited and it feels so good!
Also right before my trip Trevor had the opportunity to meet The Nathan Fillion which was nothing short of fantastic. He was as charming in person as you would hope he would be.  Both of our crushes on him grew even more. Trevor and my brother Dalan also took a minute to meet Adam Baldwin. Super Geeky fun!

We decided that our almost 2 1/2 year old should probably have a toddler bed and updated her crib. It was kind of sad for me, but Bailey loves it. She also still stays in there until I come and get her in the morning at at nap times, which I am pretty thrilled about. She is also definitely the granddaughter of my mother as her current favorite books to read are Elmo's Halloween Party and Christmas Countdown. This girl loves her holidays just like her Grammy.

Bailey's closet and spring/summer wardrobe all set!

Bailey is also becoming much more dramatic and now fake cries often. She then likes to have all of us take turns fake crying. It's pretty funny. "Mommy's turn...Daddy's turn...Bailey's turn" We are trying to get her to laugh instead. So far that idea hasn't taken hold yet. Apparently its not as funny to fake laugh.

We also saw my sister McKenna and her kids for a minute and saw Trevor's parents before they left for another mission. We are looking forward to this summer and the opportunity to see more family and have Bailey play with more of her cousins. Granat family reunion here we come!

Elise and Bailey sliding together...

We also set up a pool for Bailey and I think she is going to be a water girl for sure. It's been a busy month, but we have had lots of fun. Here's to a fabulous and hopefully not too hot summer. Keep on keeping on adventurers and don't forget the sunscreen.

These are just bonus pictures of cuteness from the month of May. You're welcome! :)

We even managed a movie date! X-Men!
