"Dashing Through the Snow..."

Happy New Year adventurers!

We had a great December and 2015 has already been pretty memorable and crazy. We had a very merry Christmas and were lucky enough to go to Idaho for a much wished for White Christmas.

Bailey was so excited for Santa (and asked to go see him daily) and to see her cousins and Grammy and Skipper. It was so fun to see the magic of Christmas through her eyes. Her Christmas list without any prodding from myself and Trevor included  Batman Legos and dress ups. Her wishes (and then some) were fulfilled.

We had a wonderful time with everyone and besides most of the adults getting sick a good time was had by all.

When we got home I was feeling pretty sick and as I had had a pneumonia just before we ventured to Idaho - figured I should probably get my cough and low oxygen levels checked out. Okay, I didn't really want to get it checked out, but Trevor may have insisted upon it. So after a quick trip to my Pulomary doctor I was admitted to the hospital with another new and worse pneumonia coupled with some other infections. Yay! I'm such an overachiever.

I was discharged a few days later on oxygen (and antibiotics) which I am continuing to "enjoy". I have been able to reduce the use of the oxygen to full time at home and at night, but less throughout the day as long as I have a travel tank with me and monitor my oxygen levels. Total win I think. ;)

Bailey is still as funny and crazy as ever. She has full conversations with us and tells us about her day and the games she plays at her babysitters house. She has also now graduated to a "sunbeam" at our church. This means she doesn't just play at church. She is grown up enough to go to a Sunday school type class. She is loving it! And when she sings the song I about die. ("Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam a SUNBEAM!") Bailey is constantly reminding me lately that "I'm a big girl mommy." I tell her that big girls use the potty and then she just laughs at me. We will get there. Maybe this is the week. Wish me luck!

We are so grateful for this year and know it's going to be a wonderful and eventful year. Stay tuned for our adventures.

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year….”

December 2014
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from Smithtown. It has been a fun and adventurous year for our household. Trevor started a new job, I travelled internationally for work and Bailey is now a full grown, funny, crazy, talking and opinionated three year old. I am not sure how she managed to turn three on us. But, apparently it’s true what they say – time flies when you are having fun.
Some of the year’s highlights were cousins, cousins, cousins. Bailey is obsessed with her cousins. She wants to play with them all the time and see them as often as possible. “I love my cousins mommy…” Fortunately for us, we live close to a few and took several trips to see more throughout the year.  I definitely am grateful for the great relationship we have with our families and how fortunate we are to spend time with them.

Trevor and I managed to go to Bear Lake for the weekend of our 10th wedding anniversary. It was the first trip we had taken not to see family since our honeymoon. And many of you know about the “fun” of our honeymoon. (In Sickness and in Health) This however, was a much better and less sickly time – we went horseback riding and had some amazing food and remembered how much we like each other. We think we’ll go for another 10 and then re-evaluate.

Trevor also had the great fortune to meet the great Nathan Fillion (Firefly & Castle) and I met the charming Cary Elwes (Princess Bride). Oh the joys of comic con and fandom.

Bailey graduated to a toddler bed and we are still working on potty training, but she is talking in full sentences and I can almost always understand her. Also, not to brag, but I will – Bailey can spell her own name and count to 30. She is super smart and we will forever be grateful to all the television that helped get her there. Ha. Just kidding – about the television part - mostly. She is wicked smart though and remembers everything, so I am having to be extra mindful of things I say around that one and shows we watch when she is around. I guess The Walking Dead isn’t appropriate for toddlers.

2015 is going to be an amazing year I am sure. We hope that you all have a wonderful holiday season and a wonderful year.

With Love,
Trevor, Whitney & Bailey Smith

"Who Can Take A Rainbow...

...The Candy Man Can...Cause He Mixes It With Love and Makes the World Taste Good..."

It's sweet to be 3!!! It's happened adventurers. Bailey has turned 3! We had a super fun and sugar filled candy party in Idaho after Thanksgiving with many of her cousins. Everyone had a blast and ate too much candy.

She also got some sweet gifts that she is playing with all day - everyday. She got some great books, a dolly, a drum set, Santa's Village, rain gear and some excellent dress up shoes and accessories.

Thank goodness Christmas is right around the corner or this girl would have nothing to play with. Can we say spoiled much? :) But she deserves it and we love it. We are hoping for the gift of potty training from her. Is that too much to ask? We can do this!

We had a fantastic and fabulous weathered Thanksgiving. Miraculously warm weather melted the snow in Idaho and allowed for the grandkids to spend quite a bit of time playing outside and less time destroying my parents house.

We now have Christmas up at our house and the baking and wrapping is in full force. We have several Christmas parties coming up and hope to get a picture or two with Santa and the Bailey. She is super excited for snow and Santa and presents. It's fun with her getting older and really enjoying and understanding more about the magic of Christmas.  We hope you all have a wonderful and magical Christmas. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
